If you are a teacher in the Fort Worth ISD, please read the HISD report linked on the January 27th, 2026 blog post. It is critical that you protect yourself, as the TEA will not. You must understand this statement of fact:
“Houston ISD adopted a compensation plan that bases salaries on performance ratings and assignments”
If you are a current FWISD teacher, there is no reason to expect the TEA to do anything different than in Houston. Please do not fall for their doublespeak. If you like your current school, please also consider this factual data as of the first year of the HISD takeover:
“Of the 11,495 Houston ISD teachers in 2023–24, 58.6% (6,739 teachers) remained at the same Houston ISD campus in 2024–25”
You will leave the district or you will be moved from school to school. One foundational principle of the NES, that the TEA is forcing on the ISD, is that teachers who have high performing students will be moved annually to schools where there is low performance. The days of teaching at a great school for years is gone. Below are links to job postings at nearby districts who will welcome quality teachers with open arms. But the early bird gets the worm.
